Here at The People Hive we understand how important it is for people who have a learning disability to have a range of activities to take part in.  Over the past few years we have really striven to develop a comprehensive programme of opportunities to enable our clients to connect more fully with the community.  In addition to the excellent varied activities programmes which are developed quarterly we have several groups that meet up weekly or monthly:

Monday evenings from 7.00 to 9.00 is the Cabbage Patch Pub Night, where a fairly large group of people meet up for a couple of hours of fun and socialising.  There is a charge of £5 for those who come without one to one support.
Tuesday afternoons from 2.00 to 4.00 you will find the Cover to Cover book group, also at the Cabbage Patch.  This is a small group who meet up to share their favourite stories and music and join in with a great story telling activity using hand puppets and imagination!  There is a £12 weekly fee, paid for in advance for a 12 week term.
On Wednesday mornings we have our DanceAct group who meet at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington from 10.00 to 12.45.  With the aid of fully qualified dance instructors, the team work together to create a short performance which is staged for family and friends at the end of each term.  The activity costs £20 per week which is charged termly in advance.
On a Thursday afternoon you can come along to the Employability Job Club at the Twickenham Wellbeing Centre in Arragon Road.  Run in partnership with Local Mencap Richmond, the group was set up to help adults with learning disabilities into work placements.  This is a free activity which runs from 3.30 to 5.30.
The last Thursday of each month sees the Games Night at The Adelaide pub.  The gang meet at The Adelaide pub in Teddington at 6.30 where we have dinner and play a variety of board games and card games, finishing up at 8.30. There is a charge of £5 for those who come without one to one support.
Once a month on a Saturday you can join the Diner’s Club.  For £30 you can have a 2 course meal plus a drink.  The venues are varied as much as possible so that members get a chance to try different types of food that they might not otherwise try.  This activity needs to be booked in advance.

NB  We are a non-profit organisation and as such the fees for our activities are calculated based on actual costs including entry fees, staffing, transport and admin costs.  Any excess goes directly back into the development and delivery of future activities and opportunities.
